Christmas has come early for one West Leeds amateur football team.
The Wortley branch of Manning Stainton has sponsored a new kit for Farnley Sports FC as part of its on-going Community Support Programme.
Farnley Sports manager Darren Hullah said:
“All the lads are extremely grateful to Manning Stainton for their generous support and can’t wait to wear the new strip.
“The costs of running a local sports team are increasing all the time and we are becoming ever more reliant on the support of local businesses in order to survive. Unfortunately more and more teams are going to the wall which is bad news for everybody.”
Farnley Sports play in division two of the Yorkshire Amateur League following back to back promotions.
Nicola Dresser, manager of the Manning Stainton branch on Lower Wortley Road, said:
“We had no hesitation in agreeing to sponsor the kit once Darren made the initial approach.
“As a community minded company we fully appreciate the role that teams like Farnley Sports play and it is therefore important that we rally round and do whatever we can to help.”
Manning Stainton has also supported Lower Wortley Primary School, Wortley Juniors FC U15s and Wortley and Farnley Parish Christmas Tree Festival.
