Councillor’s parking concerns over Stanningley flats plans

A Bramley & Stanningley councillor has objected to plans to create six flats above restaurants/takeaways at 116 Stanningley Town Street.

As reported by WLD, applicant Abid Hussain wants to replace existing storage areas with five, one-bedroom flats, along with a two-bedroom flat. No parking spaces are proposed with the development.

Councillor Kevin Ritchie (Lab, Bramley & Stanningley) has objected. He said: “Six flats will generate the need for parking spaces, and there is already pressure on nearby on-street parking capacity.”

Cllr Ritchie also raised concerns about the lack of bin space and over accessibility and inclusivity at the site.

According to the plans an office would be retained thanks to the formation of a new entrance to the front.

There are currently five objections to the proposals. Council planning officers are due to make a decision on the proposal by the end of the month.

The plans can be viewed in full here.
