Community urged to support Bramley Park’s ‘big dig’

Volunteers from the Friends of Bramley Park have been continuing to work in the Walled Garden, which has included removing the lavender, digging over the beds, adding compost and planting.

The bulbs planted underneath the Celtic Cross have come up this Springing the Friends are planning further work in the Walled Garden

Community Gardening – The Big Dig runs on Saturday, 9 May 2026 from 12pm-3pm.

A Friends spokesperson said: “Join us for a gardening session we are affectionately calling The Big Dig! We are planning to dig over some of the beds, add compost and plant up some of the borders. Everyone is welcome and you can work within your activity level.

“Remember to wear closed-toe shoes and bring a rain coat. We have a few tools but if you’re able please bring one along.”

A fundraising plant sale will be held on Saturday, 6 June from 10am-1pm.

The last plant sale raised over £400 for the Friends of Bramley Park. This money has been put to good use and we have spent it on plants and consumables for the Walled Garden. Find the Facebook event here.
