Busy Bramley road to be resurfaced

Pothole-ridden Newlay Lane in Bramley is to be resurfaced in March and early April following a push from local councillors and residents.

The busy street, running between Leeds and Bradford Road and Broad Lane, will be resurfaced from Monday, 23 March to Friday, 3 April. Works will take place from 9.30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

Drivers will be diverted to travel on Whitecote Hill during this time.

Councillors Kevin Ritchie, Tom Hinchcliffe and Adele Rae (Labour, Bramley and Stanningley) welcomed the move. They said: “Newlay Lane has long been in a state of disrepair with potholes that we and residents have all reported over a long time.

“Patching work that took place in autumn 2025 hasn’t fixed the recurring issue, we’re very glad that the road will receive a complete resurfacing. We’d like to thank all residents who have reported potholes for helping to make this happen and for their patience with the condition of the road.”
