Bramley Thai boxer Cole, 13, aims for Bangkok

By James Bovington

Thirteen-year-old Cole Chapman is one of the Thai boxers from Bramley’s Bad Company gym to have passed the first stage of the Team England selection process for the 2026 WBC championship tournament in Bangkok.

“He won a gold at the tournament in Cheshire,” said dad Nick.

“It worked out that in his 33kg weight class he went straight to the final and took on another highly rated boxer from a gym in Durham. Cole was like lightning in the bout and won unanimously on points.”

Cole is next out on 15 November at the Hitman show in Leeds boxing for the ICO 34kg European title.

Nick added: “He can’t wait especially as his hero Joe Craven is topping the bill.

“At his first international tournament last June in Italy my son won a bronze.

“He lives very near the gym. You’ll find him there most days busy training. He’s determined to get to Thailand next summer and hopefully improve on his performance. Everyone is so proud of him.”

There’s no official funding for the Thailand trip so Cole and his teammates will be busy fundraising. Potential sponsors should contact Nick Chapman on 07703 607144 or Nickchapman1@live.com or call Bad Company on 07885 270267.
