Man arrested after Bramley house barricade

A 35-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in Bramley this morning.

At 3.53am police received a call reporting a man had barricaded himself in the upstairs of a house in Victoria Park Grove, Bramley, and was refusing to leave.

Chief Inspector Chris Bowen, who oversaw the operation, said:

“An operation was put in place to ensure the man’s safe removal from the property and our colleagues from the fire and ambulance services were on stand-by at the scene.

“A police negotiator was in contact with the man for a number of hours and shortly before noon he surrendered himself to officers who had entered the downstairs of the property.

“We appreciate that this incident will have caused concern and some disruption in the community today and we would like to thank everyone for their patience while this incident was brought to a safe conclusion.”
