Youth, 15, appears in court over Armley stabbing

A 15-year-old boy has now been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Armley on Thursday evening.

He appeared before Leeds Magistrates this morning (Saturday, 16 May).

At 9.18pm on Thursday police were called Whingate, in Armley, where a 32-year-old man had been stabbed in the street.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. His condition remains stable and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

An 11-year-old boy and 16-year-old male have been released on bail pending further enquiries

Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said:

“There remains an enhanced policing footprint in the Armley area and this will be in place over the weekend.

“We still want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation.

“We believe there were several people in the vicinity at the time who may be able to help in our enquiries, however, we have not been able to identify them as yet.”
