At about 9am last Saturday (July 2) a man entered the elderly woman’s home in Cheltenham Street, Wortley, through an unlocked door and started searching the property.

He continued to look for items to steal even when he saw the victim in bed in the living room.

He stole some jewellery, but as he left the property he was chased off by a man who was described as white and wearing a hi-vis waistcoat.

The suspect was described as white and wearing blue jeans and a black top.

Detective Sergeant James Gross, of Leeds District Crime Team, said:

“The victim has been left very traumatised by what happened and we would urgently like to hear from anyone with any information that could assist the investigation We are particularly keen to identify the man who chased the suspect from the scene as he is a vital witness.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District Crime Team via 101 quoting crime reference 13160282012.
