Leeds City Council has confirmed all older residents of its care homes have been offered a vaccine for Covid 19.
It follows a target announced by Government that it planned to ensure all care home residents, people over-70 and front-line carers would have had the jab by February 15.
The council had confirmed that although all care home residents had been offered a jab, some visits had been deferred due to local outbreaks, but would be visited as soon as NHS staff were able.
A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said:
“As announced nationally, all care home residents have now been offered a Covid-19 vaccine and this includes care homes in Leeds.
“Although a small remainder of homes had visits deferred due to public health advice on local outbreaks, homes will be visited as soon as NHS staff are allowed to do so.
“Whilst this is a wonderful achievement, those who have received the vaccination must remember to keep following guidelines around social distancing and hand washing to both protect themselves and the people around them.”
