Welcome to your new West Leeds Dispatch!
We’ve been operating for the past 12 weeks as West Leeds Life, telling you the latest stories, news, views and gossip from Armley, Bramley, Calverley, Farnley, Farsley, Kirkstall, Pudsey, Rodley and Wortley.
But after a great start with more than 5,000 page views from over 20 different countries (we love and thank our reader from South Korea!) we’ve decided to kick on a gear, get a new website, new name and perhaps be a bit more focussed in what we’re doing.
What’s worked so far is that YOU – our readers – love reading about what people are up to in our communities and celebrate the volunteers who get up off their backsides and do STUFF. Perhaps you could join one of the groups? Or set one up yourself? We hope to inspire you.
It’s also clear you want us to give you more of a voice on local issues, so we won’t shy away from the important things that are bothering you.
Later today sees the launch of our new live blog which does what it says on the tin – provide live updates on what’s happening in west Leeds.
In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be launching a campaign looking at food poverty and some of the interesting and cool ways local people are looking to combat the issue. We’ll also be championing being a ‘home tourist’ – and answering the question: Where’s great to go in West Leeds this summer? Get in touch with us if you have any suggestions!
We’re always looking for contributions for the Dispatch – this is YOUR site, written by the community, for the community. Submissions of articles, photos, video, ideas etc are ALWAYS very welcome. We’d also appreciate any feedback on our new site (we appreciate there may be a few glitches that need ironing out).
Drop us a line at our new email address: firstname.lastname@example.org or Tweet us @wldispatch.
