Volunteers dig in for Burley Park work

Volunteers are being encouraged to take part in an event to keep Burley park in top-top condition.

The Friends of Burley Park group is holding its next regular volunteer day on Sunday, 10 May and there are various jobs including weeding and litter picking.

The Friends are also hoping to finish the installation of the picnic bench near to the playground.

A spokesperson said: “We’re fortunate to have a small group of dedicated committee members who keep this fabulous volunteer organisation running smoothly.

“However, to continue growing and strengthening what we do, we’d really benefit from some extra hands and fresh ideas. If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, now is a great time—whether it’s helping with planning, sharing skills, or simply offering occasional support.

“Your input could make a real difference, and we’d love to have you on board.”

Bring along any tools and gloves if you have them. Meet by the Bandstand at 10am. Everyone is welcome.

The Friends have also had the artificial cricket wicket replaced, following a fundraising effort. The Friends are grateful to Wades Charity and the Yorkshire Cricket Charitable Youth Trust for support with funding and to Left Bank Leeds for helping with bid administration.
