Swinnow Community Centre spreads Christmas cheer with family party

By community reporter

Swinnow Community Centre was brimming with holiday spirit on Friday night as 150 members of the local community came together to celebrate at the highly anticipated Christmas Family Party.

Families enjoyed an evening filled with festive fun, delicious food, and a host of creative games that sparked joy and laughter among attendees of all ages.

The event featured something for everyone. Parents indulged in slow-cooked pulled pork sandwiches while children were treated to an affordable packed lunch.

Santa Claus himself made a magical appearance in his enchanting grotto, much to the delight of the youngest guests, all included in the entrance fee.

Families joined in silly Christmas games like Fill Your Pants, Shave Santa, and Grab and Run, which added to the infectious festive energy.

Feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive:
– 90% of attendees reported feeling more connected to the community after the event.
– 100% of respondents said their sense of community had grown stronger.
– 95% of families declared it a fantastic event for all ages.

One attendee said: “I love how these events bring everyone together the kids are always happy.

“The work that goes into making sure everyone is happy is just amazing it gives you that little bit of hope for the future when the world can’t be quiet dark at times The staff are amazing and work super hard and I hope they realise that there hard work is appreciated have a wonderful Christmas – oh, and the food is always so good.”

Another added: “Fantastic event! I am a sole parent with no family in Leeds. This event made me feel so much less isolated and alone. My daughter had a great time, and I enjoyed speaking to staff as I get very lonely.”

The team at Swinnow Community Centre would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers, attendees, and local supporters who made this event possible.

“Creating a space where families can connect and celebrate together is what the community centre is all about,” said Swinnow Community Centre’s Lucy Munton.

“We’re so thrilled that this year’s Christmas Family Party brought such joy and strengthened the sense of community here in Swinnow.”
