Bramley’s Caroline Nardone has adapted her food business by offering deliveries during lockdown.

Caroline, who has overcome personal eyesight health challenges to set up her own thriving business, spoke to community reporter JOSIE ARMITAGE about the challenges she faces.

Caroline Nardone at The Kitchen at Haley’s Yard has extended her meal preparation and delivery to bring more of her delicious meals to people at home.

Caroline said:

“I’m working really hard to make meals that people can enjoy at home as we can’t go out in these times. I started my business for this exact reason as I couldn’t get out and about myself. I’m also offering help and support with shopping or just a chat to anyone who needs it as I’m on my local travels with my kitchen driver!”

Caroline is preparing healthy freezer meals weekly.  Favourites include carrot & coriander soup, Vegan shepherd’s pie and beef mince & veg stew (gluten free).

She is now preparing and delivering meals for the elderly and isolated which are more traditional dishes at affordable prices.

This includes lamb’s liver, bacon and onions, rich beef and pork and red wine lasagne and Bentley’s pork pie with proper mushy peas.

Customers can either arrange to collect their meals from The Kitchen following social distancing rules or arrange delivery directly to their homes.

Caroline is offering free local delivery to all customers to help minimise the need to leave the house.  Areas covered are: Bramley, Rodley, Farsley, Calverley, Horsforth, Pudsey, Cookridge and by arrangement also Morley, Drighlington, Cleckheaton, Gomersal, Liversedge and Dewsbury.

Caroline continues to work with local suppliers.  She said:

“I’m only using Bentley’s of Pudsey and Sutcliffe’s of Farsley, and they have both been incredible.  They have had absolutely everything I’ve needed and I’ve not had to go to a supermarket once!”

She has also introduced more themed Take Homes including Easter Sunday dinners – Caroline sold out and delivered around 75 meals to happy customers.

Johanna Early, a satisfied customer said:

“I got a delivery of the Easter Sunday meal and lots of great freezer meals as well for my mum. She was really chuffed and called me later to say how much she enjoyed the roast chicken dinner and pudding.

“I think Caroline’s weekend menus are the highlight of mum’s week at the minute & it keeps her going. So lucky Caroline is able to provide this valuable service at this time.”

She has already sold out of her ‘American Take Home’ on 17/18th April in 3 days after only launching it on Sunday.

Caroline said:

“I feel incredibly lucky that I’m still able to work during this time and that I am helping my local community in some small way.”
