We are all acutely aware of the work the NHS and supporting parties are doing at the moment, writes Jill Stocks.

And 10-year-old Oscar, from Rodley, has decided to raise money for NHS charities with a special effort.

Oscar has just completed the second of five nights of a big sleepout to raise money for the NHS.

Oscar has a tent in his back garden with neighbours all keeping an eye on him and aunt Diane has been making sure he has plenty of cosy blankets, cuddly toys and treats to keep him company.

As of writing Oscar has already raised a fantastic £1,158 towards NHS Charities Together, specifically “Supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients”. NHS Charities Together is the umbrella organisation for the 250 UK NHS charities who “provide funds and services over and above what the NHS can provide”.

Oscar wrote on his Justgiving page last night prior to night two:

“Night two.  I am looking forward to it and I feel really tired, I have my snacks and my furry friends.  I know I will sleep, Diane says she probably won’t.  Thank you for everyone who has donated so far, is great.  Thank you, Oscar.”

Oscar today told West Leeds Dispatch:

“I am camping out because I really want to help the NHS so they can beat Coronavirus.”

Please help us get Oscar as much publicity as we can by sharing his story.

If you are in a position to help financially towards Oscars fundraising you can donate via the Justgiving page here.
