Plans have been submitted to demolish an existing Esso petrol filling station, cafe and outbuildings in Armley.
Armley Service Station, in Armley Road, will be replaced with a new state-of-the-art petrol station with canopy, shop, replacement underground tanks, detached single storey Starbucks coffee shop with parking and landscaping.
The drive-thru Starbucks will be base on land next to the existing petrol station, and is currently occupied by the Scrumdiddlyumptious cafe and four advertising hoardings.
It will sell freshly prepared salads, sandwiches, cakes, cookies and doughnuts, but no hot food. The Starbucks will feature 21 car parking spaces.
A report submitted to planners by applicants Euro Garages adds:
“It is considered that the scale of the proposal in this district is appropriate. Furthermore, it is not considered that the increase in the scale of the building would have an adverse impact on the vitality and viability of Armley Centre and other nearby centre.
“Indeed, the contributions would improve the environmental quality of Armley with replacement surfacing, lighting and landscaping, while public transport facilities would be improved.”
