The rose beds in Stanningley Park have been replenished thanks to a blooming generous £200 donation.
Forty new roses with mixed colours have been planted by Leeds City Council’s Parks and Green Spaces service.
This planting coincides with Bramley Baths’ Community Builder, Alaina Dunne, assembling some budding green-fingered volunteers last weekend to plant community orchards at Stanningley Park and Bramley Fall Woods.
The donation comes through Members Improvements in the Community and Environment (MICE) scheme from Bramley & Stanningley councillors Kevin Ritchie, Tom Hinchcliffe and Adele Rae.
Cllr Ritchie said: “It was a pleasure to fund the new rose beds and attend the planting of the orchards. My colleagues and I give our heartfelt thanks to Alaina and all the volunteers that joined the planting at the weekend.
“These improvements will make our green spaces even better and we’re proud to be part of a community that cares for its local parks.”
