‘Role model’ nomination for disabled rugby league coach

By Noah Roberts

A disabled rugby league coach has been nominated for a national award.

Jenny Robinson, Learning Disability Super League (LDSL) rugby coach, has been nominated in the Positive Role Model Award for Disability category in the National Diversity Awards.

She works with the team regularly at the Kirkstall training ground on Bridge Road.

Jenny is a passionate Leeds Rhinos fan. She has a learning disability, autism and is a full-time wheelchair user.

LDSL is part of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation. She qualified in July 2025 with a Level 1 Coaching Qualification following a course at Leeds West Academy.

Jenny is well-known within the disabled community as a singer.

Jenny said: “I’m honoured to say I’ve been nominated for a national diversity award for being a positive role model for disability. I’m really grateful to being noticed and nominated there’s so many people who do incredible things for the disability community. So to being recognised means so much.”

People can vote here.

Jenny added: “Anyone can vote for me and it would mean so much to me if people can share this because I just want to keep fighting for other people with disabilities to be heard and seen. Supporting people who don’t always get seen means a lot to me.”

If you’d like to follow Jenny’s example and get involved in Rugby League Coaching, the RFL
runs a variety of courses from levels 1-4, and also a level 2 Wheelchair Rugby League
Coaching Course – full details here.
