Redundant buildings to be demolished at Farnley ring road plant site

A redundant block of buildings at the Butterbowl Works, off the Ring Road at Farnley, could be demolished, if Leeds City Council gives the go ahead.

Applicant Nigel Chippindale, from Chippindale Plant, says the old block of buildings – based at the back of the site – is “past the end of its design life and no longer maintainable”.

The demolition proposals would leave the site as a hardcore standing and would take around six weeks to complete, with work carried out from 7.30am to 4.30pm weekdays and weekends – if required – between 7.30am to 1pm. The demolition doesn’t affect Chippindale’s other offices on the site.

The demolition plans can be viewed in full here.

  1. Thought from headline that another long established business was in trouble or moving away with the jobs lost….. however not the case but curious as to why they have to ask for council permission?
