Building Futures Together, an alternative education provider in Pudsey, is opening the doors to its purpose-built construction training facility.
The organisation invites school leaders, SENDCos, pastoral teams, local authority partners, parents and young people to explore how its provision supports students aged 11-16 who require an alternative to mainstream education.
During your visit, you will:
- Meet the team, including Co-Founder and Managing Director, John Thornton and members of the Governing Board.
- Gain insight into the curriculum, qualifications, and English and Maths offer
- Understand how it aligns with the Department for Education alternative provision quality standards
- Hear directly from current and former students
- Experience facilities and take part in practical activities
And importantly, to gain an understanding of how, by working together, there can be a positive impact on a young person’s life, career opportunities and ambitions.

John Thornton said: “Every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, but we know that traditional classroom environments do not work for everyone.
“At Building Futures Together, we use practical, hands-on learning and trusted relationships to help young people rebuild confidence, develop skills, and discover a positive future.
“Our open evening is an opportunity for schools, families, professionals, and young people to see first-hand how an alternative approach to education can transform lives. We look forward to welcoming visitors to our training centre and sharing how, by working together, we can help more young people achieve their potential.
Mr Thornton added that high staff-to-learner ratios, structured practical curriculum and pastoral support help students to re-engage with learning, improve attendance, and work towards meaningful Post-16 pathways.
