Residents are being urged to take part in a new pilot initiative aiming to create a vibrant and sustainable Armley.

The initiative is being hosted by community worker Victoria Kortekaas, and there will be a community consultation taking place as part of the Community Voice group at New Wortley Community Centre on July 27.

The sessions will take place from 12pm to 1.30pm and 5pm to 6.30pm, with food available.

Posting on social media, Ms Kortekaas said: “Are you passionate about making a sustainable change in our beloved Armley neighbourhood? We have a fantastic opportunity for you to get involved and make a difference through a brand-new pilot project!

“Join us, residents, local organisations, and community groups, as we start on this exciting journey. Volunteer hours will be matched with funding. The more volunteer hours we gather, the more funding we can unlock. This funding can be used for smaller community projects or one large project that will benefit us all.

“To kickstart this initiative, we’ll be discussing ideas for projects and exploring existing initiatives that can benefit from this fund. We are also eager to hear suggestions from residents like you!

“Even if you can’t make it to the meeting, your voice is crucial! Please take a few minutes to participate in our survey, which will help shape the future of our community projects. Every opinion counts!”

The survey can be found here.
