A shop is facing objections to an application to sell alcohol in an area blighted by drink-related problems.
Global Food Store, on Town Street in Armley, applied for a licence to sell drinks from 9am-11.30pm daily.
Leeds City Council will consider the application at a Civic Hall hearing on Tuesday (April 21).
A licensing report said there were objections from West Yorkshire Police, the councilās environmental health department and Labour ward councillor Andy Parnham.
Street drinking and anti-social behaviour were among the concerns raised.
The council report said: āIn the last few years residents have reported to the local councillors and MP their concerns about large groups of mostly male street drinkers gathering on Town Street.
āResidents find this intimidating and have reported feeling that this area is becoming a no-go zone.ā
The shop is within a Cumulative Impact Area (CIA), officially classed by the council as suffering from high levels of alcohol-related health problems.
The applicant said measures would be in place to prevent nuisance behaviour, including CCTV and staff training.
The licence application said any customers who appeared to be aged under 25 would be asked to show ID.
Councillors will discusss the application and have the option to grant, refuse or allow it with additional conditions.

FAO Don Mort, re application for licence at Global Foods Armley. That licence, if approved, would be a powder keg of problems!
We have far too many booze shops on town street already. The area is becoming a no zone area after 4 pm even in Summer. The levelling up will be ruined by debris, bottles, drunks, and ASB how can you put an objection in?
