Works to improve the station footpath between the Owlcotes Centre and New Pudsey Station will be taking place from next week.

This work will look to widen and resurface the footpath, while cutting back overgrown vegetation and improving the street lighting along its length.

In order to undertake this work the whole of the path will be closed between 8pm and 6am each weekday from 8 November to 10 December, with a pedestrian diversion in place via Dawsons Corner and Bradford Road.

Notices will be placed around the station, as well as two signs that are to be placed at either end of the footpath throughout the duration of the works outlining the closure.

  1. There’s a big issue with the lighting on the path that leads from the M&S car park up the side of the school to the underpass that goes below the ring road and then up to the town centre. Several of the lights are out which leaves dark stretches of the path. I reported it to the council last year who came back saying it was the responsibility of a private company that appears to do estates management for M&S. I emailed M&S to flag it and ask them to replace the lights that were out but got no reply and nearly a year on the lights are still dark. Sorting the train station footpath only solves part of the issue of people being able to safely walk up to the town centre at night.
