It seemed like everyone turned out for our New Wortley Community Walk!

Led by a marching band – thanks lads! – we marched to the Wortleys, at Mary’s Close, up to the social club, along the avenues, around the back of the prison, down to the play park and performance circle, back up by Wellington stores, Clyde Walk and a final tune outside the Clydes and Phil May Court!

With over 100 people on the walk we are sure this was one of the most successful events on the Walk Leeds walking festival!

We had pushchairs, mums, dads, grandmas and grandads, schoolkids, young and old and, of course, the New Wortley walking group. In fact, a right cross section of the New Wortley Community, thanks to Castleton Family Centre staff and Castleton Primary School staff.

Then it was back to the community centre for a BBQ and fun long into the night. Thanks to Leeds Rhinos’ Tom Briscoe, who stopped by as a special guest!

Thanks to Andy Picken and all the community centre volunteers and staff who helped make the day possible.
