New multi-purpose building and extra parking could boost Aire Valley Marina

A new multi-purpose outbuilding and parking for an extra 20 cars could be introduced at Aire Valley Marina, off the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

A planning application aims to remove the existing outbuilding at the marina, off Redcote Lane, Burley, and replace it with a new detached building for use as a shop, office and shower/toilets.

The proposals would see existing car park increase from 40 vehicles to 60 and would include new electric vehicle charging points.

A statement submitted with the application states the facilities would “provide much-improved facilities on-site for residents and visitors. The unit will provide shower, WC and utility facilities (tumble dryers and washing machines) the ground floor will also comprise a small on site shop and office facility.

“With the addition of this unit the site will be able to provide much-needed facilities for existing users and also help the facility grow and attract more customers.”

The additional car parking would accommodate an increase in moorings and also provide an area for loading and lifting equipment to load the boats in and out of the water.

The plans can be viewed in full here.

A separate application for a Certificate of Proposed Lawful Development for the nstallation of floating pontoons to increase the number of moorings was also submitted this week and can be viewed here.
