Newly trained Dementia and Age Friendly Ambassadors are set to offer lifeline support to older people in Armley.
A community collaboration brought together staff and volunteers from businesses, care homes, and medical centres for Dementia and Age Friendly training. The result is 32 newly trained ambassadors ready to support older people across the area.Â
Arnley Helping Hands CEO Dawn Newsome said: “What an amazing team effort! Today, passionate staff and volunteers from across Armley gathered to complete our Age Friendly and Dementia training.
“A huge thank you to Sarah and Elizabeth from the Leeds Older People’s Forum for delivering such a fantastic and insightful session. We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we now have 32 dedicated people in Armley officially certified as Dementia and Age Friendly Ambassadors!
“These fantastic ambassadors represent a brilliant cross-section of our community.”
These include:
- Local businesses – Corn Mill Lodge Hotel and White Rose Banqueting Centre.
- Community organisations – Armley Helping Hands and New Wortley Community Centre.
- Care homes – Rievaulx House Care Home.
- Local care partnerships.
- Medical centres – Armley Medical Centre, Priory View and Thornton Medical Centre.
Miss Newsome added: “This means even more support, care, and understanding for the older people living in our community. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive Armley where everyone feels valued, supported, and respected!”
