MHA Horsforth celebrates volunteer week

By Jill Stocks

Almost 40 volunteers gathered for a lunch at The Bridge Inn in Horsforth for the MHA Communities Horsforth volunteer week lunch.

MHA Horsforth run a number of events in Horsforth for the over 55s helping to reduce social isolation for those in later life.

And they couldn’t do so without the help of their volunteers.

From making the tea to cooking bacon butties the volunteers are crucial to what MHA Horsforth does in the community.

Dean Steadman, local manager of MHA Communities Horsforth, told us how important the volunteers are:

“Without our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to do what we do in the local community.

“We really value our volunteers. They play a vital part in the scheme. Without them we just couldn’t run.

“We’re so grateful for everything that they do and this little meal is just our way of saying ‘thank you’ to everyone.”

MHA Communities Horsforth run a whole programme of activities based at Central Methodist Church on Town Street in Horsforth, from craft club, to bacon butty and lunch club, and exercise sessions including chairobics.
