SIR;- It’s decision time! In the first three weeks of November Roadblock have had 468 individual engagements with people in New Wortley and Armley, to design their own ‘off-grid events machine’. We have had a fantastic response with over 50 designs coming from one school alone.
Our artists and engineers have been studying these designs and will now produce three options for bike powered events machines, based on the most popular suggestions. At the event this Saturday the community will make their final decision. Â
Below is a drawing of our current ‘Omni-Bike’. We won’t be building this one! but it includes a lot of the things that came up in our engagements and shows what local people feel will improve their access to green spaces, and what they consider bike power being able to achieve.Â
Please come and join us at the New Wortley Community Centre, this Saturday 30 November, from 10-12am to help make the choice.
Refreshments will be served and you will be able to view the many original designs and vote for your favourite from the three final options.
In addition to this, on Thursday we will send an online form showing the three designs, so that people who cannot make it on the day can still vote for their machine
We can’t wait to hear what you will choose, to build this machine and turn the voices and aspirations of the people of New Wortley and Armley, into a bright and resilient bike machine.

Love the idea of serving cold drinks and also love the idea of a piano and people are doing all kinds of cool things with projectors and holograms these days so you could almost be a music festival in one machine!
