Leeds health summit to demystify medical research barriers for communities

The Cardigan Centre in Burley is hosting a major healthcare summit to give underrepresented communities a direct voice in medical innovation.

The Your Voice in Health Research Summit is running this week to break down the barriers surrounding medical research and clinical trials.

Hosted by the research matchmaking platform PRObr, in collaboration with National Institute for Health and Care Research and the Accelerated Surgical Care HealthTech Research Centre), the event runs until Friday.

A spokesperson told WLD: “This is a week-long, hybrid initiative bringing together clinicians, researchers, patients, and community stakeholders to explore how research can become more inclusive, accessible, and representative of diverse populations.

“Many people hear terms like ‘clinical trials’ or ‘research’ and immediately feel like it’s something distant or difficult to understand. We created this summit to make healthcare research feel more human, relatable, and accessible to everyday communities.”

It aims to make healthcare innovation understandable and inclusive for everyday local communities.

Local residents and community groups are welcome to attend d.

Registration is free:

A live stream is also running.
