Kirkstall Road was closed in both directions this morning after a cyclist was hit by a car being driven near the junction with Redcote Lane and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said they were called by the ambulance service shortly after 8am. Enquiries are currently ongoing.
The incident led to lengthy tailbacks and traffic disruption in the area, which have now cleared.
Traffic was diverting diverted via Willow Road, Burley Road and Kirkstall Hill in both directions.
