New Wortley Community Centre had a blast at their first-ever Kids Fest on Friday evening.
So many local families came along to join in the fun, show their support and share their dreams for the children and young people of New Wortley and Armley, all part of the Pride in Place funding.
There were goodie bags handed out to the first 90 children who attended and they also gave their feedback on what is important to them and what they would like to see the Pride in Place funding spent on. There was also free pizza, ice-cream and popcorn to snack on. The children sang and danced their hearts out thanks to the Armley Roadblock team who hosted a talent show.
There was also a sensory play, flower selfie-wall and the mocktails were flowing!
195 people in total gave their Pride in Place feedback. With a whopping £20 million funding – decided by local people and backed by the UK Government — big things are brewing!
CEO Andrea Edwards expressed her gratitude. She said: “Thanks to all the children, young people, parent and carers who came to Kids Fest. We hope you all had lots of fun.
“A heartfelt thank you also goes to Lewis and Roadblock team, Cllr Parnham and Cllr Walker, as well as Taj and Neil from Leeds City Council, Cllr Nkele Manaka from the Children & Families team at Leeds City Council and, of course, the staff and volunteers at the community centre. Your passion for our community never ceases to amaze me.”
Staff are already knee-deep in plans for New Wortley Community Centre’s annual Summer Festival, a crowd favourite, Mark your calendars for August 22 from 12pm to 3pm.
