Car owners in Horsforth are being warned to “lock it or lose it” as opportunist thieves target unlocked vehicles in the area.
Horsforth PCSO Julie Richardson says that thefts of insecure vehicles are the major concern in the area at the moment.
“Our main concern at the moment is vehicle crime,” she said. “People go around trying car doors and it’s just pot luck. We need to reiterate to people just to stand at the window or the door and just double click your car and make sure it’s locked.
“It’s sporadic. It’s no certain area. It’s literally everywhere but we are trying to do what we can. We are trying to clamp down on it.”
Vehicle crime accounted for 5.8% of all reported crimes in West Yorkshire as of January 2025.
In the unfortunate event of a crime contact West Yorkshire Police on 999 in an emergency and 101 in a non-emergency.
