Horsforth Green Festival will return to Horsforth Hall Park on Sunday, 20 September 2026, bringing together music, creativity, community and sustainability for a free family-friendly day out.
Following the success of the inaugural festival in 2025, this year’s event is again being organised by Horsforth Climate Action in partnership with Friends of Horsforth Hall Park, and will run from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
Visitors can look forward to a packed programme of live entertainment, hands-on activities, workshops, local food and drink, and practical inspiration for living more sustainably.
Music will be a major feature of the day, with Reaction Soundsystem’s bike-powered stage hosting performances from local bands including LS18 Rocks, Stroke of Genius and the Horsforth Jazz Band.
At the park’s bandstand, festival-goers can enjoy performances from Foxwood Steel Pans, Love Pop Choir and Horsforth Acappella Choir, alongside dance displays from the Rhinestones Group and local Morris dancers.
As visitors arrive in the park they will be welcomed by the Orchestra of Objects, whose inventive collection of reclaimed materials creates funky rhythms and interactive music-making opportunities for people of all ages.
The festival will also feature a range of free creative workshops, giving families and residents the chance to learn new skills, get hands-on and explore sustainability through art and making.
For those seeking a quieter experience, the Japanese Garden will be transformed into a mindfulness space, offering sound baths with Crystal Booth and free taster sessions from Cafe Yoga throughout the day.
One of the festival highlights will be a ‘Trashion’ Show, celebrating creativity through reuse and repair. Co-hosted with Leeds Women’s Aid, the event will showcase garments created from reused and repurposed materials, with opportunities for people to contribute to designs and make sustainable fashion pieces during the festival before the final catwalk presentation.
Green-fingered residents are also being encouraged to take part in the festival’s Produce Show, which will feature a variety of categories for all ages. Local growers, gardeners and allotment holders will have the opportunity to showcase their produce and celebrate the bounty being grown across the community.
Around the park, visitors will find a diverse range of stalls offering eco-friendly products, practical advice and interactive activities. Topics covered will include biodiversity, nature conservation, sustainable food systems, repair and reuse, and actions people can take to reduce their environmental impact.
A selection of local food and drink traders will also be serving refreshments throughout the afternoon.
The festival is largely being made possible through the efforts of volunteers and community fundraising, alongside support from local businesses including Bavette and a number of other local supporters.
Organisers hope the event will once again provide an opportunity for residents to connect with one another, celebrate local environmental action and discover simple ways to make a positive difference in their everyday lives.
Horsforth Green Festival takes place on Sunday, 20 September 2026, from 11.30am to 3.30pm at Horsforth Hall Park. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
This weekend sees the first of three pre-festival workshops. This Sunday at Stocked on New Road Side there are two opportunities to join in the festival preparations. The Junk Jam Workshop at 1:30pm shows how to turn recycling into musical instruments to use at a special jam at the festival with the Orchestra of Objects.
Following this at 4pm adults are invited to bring along their own materials to a visible mending workshop between 4pm and 6pm.
Next Saturday, 12 September, there’s a Family Trashion workshop in the ballroom at Horsforth Library, an opportunity to work on your own items or to use the materials provided. You can showcase your mended or newly made items at the festivals Trashion Parade.
