Leeds City Council has confirmed a by-election will be held in the Calverley and Farsley ward on Thursday, 22 October 2026.
The vacancy follows the resignation due to the health concerns of former Labour councillor Peter Carlil earlier this week.
A notification of the vacancy was posted on the council’s website on Friday.
As is required by law, the date for a by-election was agreed and then announced after two registered electors in Leeds formally requested one.
The count will take place at Leeds Civic Hall after polls close on Thursday, 22 October.
