Gymmagic: Record year for West Leeds gymnastics group

A Pudsey-based gymnastics club is celebrating a record year with their gymnasts collecting a host of regional awards and titles, writes Rob Wilkinson.

The Gymmagic Gymnastics Club, based on Grangefield Industrial Estate in
Pudsey, has produced 12 individual Yorkshire champions and 6 champion teams along with a medal haul of 113 and 24 separate trophies.

Gymmagic founder Sharon Gott said:

“We will have to look at expanding our trophy cabinet substantially after what has been a brilliant 2015 for Gymmagic.

“Many of our girls competed in the Women’s Artistic Yorkshire levels
competition at Catterick Garrison in November against clubs from the whole of the Yorkshire region.”

The club produced Yorkshire champions in Lotty Phillipson, Amelia Shann, Hannah Ward, Lucia Margaix, Leyla Gellan, Martha Nithsdale, Storm Hanley, Luciana Gillard, Lauren Webster, Zoe Harvey, Megan Bridge and Megan Bramley.

It also achieved great results from the Yorkshire general gymnastics floor and vault competition in October and the Teamgym squad have gained two second place finishes in their first competitions in this discipline at the Northwest and Goole open.

The girls will also be competing at the National NDP (National Development Plan) Finals and the British Championships next year.

“We are hugely proud of all of our gymnasts and the hard work and dedication of everyone at Gymmagic. Here’s to a similar story in 2016!” added Sharon, who founded the 1,200-member club in 2005.
