Fun days, community clean ups, park improvements and events have all been granted funding by councillors on the Outer West Community Committee.
The committee is made up of councillors from Bramley & Stanningley, Calverley & Farsley, Farnley & Wortley and Pudsey wards, who met at Oak Church, Stanningley on Monday evening to debate local issues and decide grant applications.
Successful applications include funding in principle for summer hanging baskets in Calverley for £1,425 and a further £357 in Farsley.
Councillors also approved Pudsey Carnival‘s application for £2,600 towards insurance and traffic management.
Trustees of the Lancasterian School Room in New Farnley will receive £1,002 towards a ‘Go Digital’ project to instal internet access and providing equipment for digital workshops. The application was welcomed by Cllr Adrian McCluskey (Lab, Farnley & Wortley).
Farnley & Wortley Fun Day will be a free community event offering a wide range of activities and entertainment. LCC Communities will receive £4,000 to fund the project.
A Bawns Clean up in Farnley will receive £1,200 and was welcomed by CLly Kate Haigh (Lab, Farnley & Wortley), who said the estate had issues with fly tipping and poor access to bins. “We wanted to demonstrate that the Bawns is an area we care about,” she added.
Summer Bands in Leeds Parks 2026 is applying for £3,720 to fund the following Summer bands in the park events:
- Two in Farnley Hall Park
- Six in Pudsey Park
- Two in Victoria Park, Calverley
- Two in Western Flatts Cliff Park, Wortley
- One in Westroyd Park, Farsley.
A grant of £6,800 was approved for picnic tables and a sign at Wortley Recreation Ground, and £9,472 for path improvements at Sparrow Park in Pudsey.
Youth activities requiring grant funding includes:
DAZL Farnley Programme 2026 received £3,740 for sessions at Farnley Community Centre, DAZL Bramley Programme 2026 received £2,530 for weekly dance sessions.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation Multi Sport Camp will receive £8,354 from all four ‘outer West’ wards for multi-sport activity camps for children. And Leeds Youth Service has successfully applied for £1,770 towards Holiday Provision 2026 in Bramley.
Leeds Youth Services has applied for £2,770 for rent and resources for weekly youth sessions in Bramley. Andy’s Youth Project in Pudsey will receive £1,560 towards 39 weeks of room hire.
Farnley & Wortley Ward Football Project will receive £975. Outer West School Holiday Programme will receive £3,330 towards free school holiday trips offering physical, educational, team‐building and confidence‐building activities.
Sunny Bank Mills Youth Club will receive £1,787 towards running a weekly youth club for people aged 10–17. The bid was welcomed by Cllr Peter Carlill (Lab, Calverley & Farsley) who said the club had proven successful.
Leeds Community Tennis Programme in Calverley Park is asking for £996 towards two weeks of Summer Tennis Camps.
The Outer West Community Committee is made up of 12 councillors from four wards. It features seven Labour, three Conservative, one Green and one Reform councillor, along with community representatives.
