Four community projects are set to benefit from a slice of cash from Leeds City Council’s Inner West Community Committee.

Councillors agreed to pay £5,176 toward Christmas light motifs in both Armley and Bramley Town Streets (Armley £2,275 and Bramley £2,901), and £3,000 towards a project offering friendship and support for lonely older people at Bramley Methodist Church.

Dance Action Zone Leeds will also receive £1,980 for weekly creative sessions which will also feature a film project celebrating community cohesion.

A further £3,067 was granted for two community consultation events run by Leeds Community Homes to involve local people in improving four spaces in the Mistress Lane area of Armley. Leeds Community Homes is looking to develop 34 new homes on Mistress Lane.

The community committee is made up of councillors from Kirkstall, Armley and Bramley & Stanningley Ward, alongside co-opted members of the public.
