Fire crews attended a large bonfire at the back of derelict St Ann’s Mills in Kirkstall just after 10pm on Monday night.
Appliances from Stanningley, Bradford, Rawdon, Hunslet, Leeds, Mirfield and Featherstone attended the blaze, which could be seen for miles around.
The fire proved to be a large bonfire to the rear of St Ann’s Mills. Fire crews used four large jets to deal with the fire, which did not affect the building.
St Ann’s Mill was built in the 1830s as a woollen mill where the mechanised processes of scribbling and fulling were carried out. A water mill is known to have been on the site previously. It was bought by Leeds City Council in 1970 but was sold at auction in March 2026.
