A Farsley 12-year-old is aiming to cycle from one coast to another to support a Leeds charity campaigning to end bed poverty.
Jesse Carlill wants to ‘break the cycle of poverty’ by cycling 137 miles in aid of Zarach, which ensures children get the restful sleep they need by lifting them out of bed poverty.
Last year he raised over £4,000 by cycling from Liverpool to Leeds. This year, he hopes to do the same but will be taking on a more challenging cycle: a 137-mile coast-to-coast ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, spanning one side of the country to the other.
Jesse said: “This year I have decided to raise even more money for Zarach by doing a more challenging cycle. I would really appreciate any support you can give.
“Many children are going to sleep hungry and cold without a proper bed of their own. Poverty is a real problem that has a significant effect on a child’s education.”
By providing something to eat and a good night’s sleep, Zarach hopes to give every child an equal chance to learn and succeed at school.

Zarach has so far delivered more than 17,000 bed bundles to children, ensuring they get the restful sleep they need and lifting them out of bed poverty.
