Farnley Fish Pond has suffered a setback this week after damage was reported.
Stakes from the newly installed reed beds have been removed and thrown into the pond, along with other rubbish.
As reported in WLD the neglected pond area has recently undergone a transformation after years of neglect.

Councillor Adrian McCluskey (Lab, Farnley & Wortley), who is supporting the creation of a Friends Group, said: “I am absolutely gutted that so much work has been completed and there’s more to do (redoing the path). So many people wanted this Farnley jewel to flourish and we were getting there.
“This is just a big blow to know there are people out there who have no respect for our community and probably no respect for themselves.
Concerns from local residents and supporters continue with the hope that the area does not lapse into a state of disrepair and destruction again.
Cllr McCluskey is encouraging residents to join a public meeting on Monday, 20 January at 6pm at Farnley Community Centre, Cross Lane, to start forming a group to look after this community resource.

Sad really when people put time, effort and money into making the area nice and respectful and let’s not forget the benefits to the wildlife as well. But with brain dead yobs who think it’s funny along with setting fire to wheelie bins, NOT a lot we can do.
