Councillors in ‘outer’ west Leeds have agreed to spend £3,600 on a series of summer concerts in parks next year.
Members of the council’s Outer West Community Committee met at Farnley Hall this afternoon to discuss the latest funding applications.
They unanimously agreed to fund the ‘Summer Bands in Leeds Parks 2025’ programme, which will see concerts held in Farnley Hall Park, Pudsey Park, Victoria Park in Calverley, Western Flatts Cliff Park in Wortley and Westroyd Park in Farsley.
Councillors also heard that since their last meeting Pudsey Community Project had been awarded £10,000 towards the installation of a through-floor lift at the charity’s base in Fartown.
The project had originally requested £34,000 but a decision was deferred at September’s meeting pending the completion of a legal agreement. Money will go towards the installation of a lift at their building in Fartown.
The project covers around 20,000 households in Pudsey, Calverley, Farsley, Swinnow, Tyersal, Rodley and Woodhall.
Councillors also agreed to fund an extra £360 towards meeting the costs of heritage information boards which have already been installed at Greenside and Lowtown by Pudsey’s Greenside Greenway group.
The outer west community committee is made up of nine councillors from three wards: Calverley & Farsley, Farnley & Wortley and Pudsey and has four Labour, three Conservative, one independent and one Green councillor.
