Community urged to get involved at first Friends of Jaily Field meeting

A new group is aiming to bring the community together and breathe a new lease of life into a green space behind HMP Armley.

The first Friends of Jaily Field meeting is being held tomorrow (Tuesday, 27 January) at New Wortley Community Centre, 6pm-7pm.

The group aims to improve and care for the park, share ideas for how the space can grow and lan community events and activities among other things.

A spokesperson said: “Find out how to get involved in making Jaily Field a place for communities to get together, hold events and activities. You don’t need any experience, just a willingness to get involved.”

  1. In the early 70s I lived in the house nearest what was then New Wortley Liberal Club, now looks to be a new build?
Anyroad I can’t remember what the park was called then.. think it was just the prison field?. . . anyway it had a lovely rose garden. The area was in transition and the Oak Inn further along Oak Lane was still awaiting demolition. . happy days.
