I’ve had the great privilege of being part of the amazing Bramley Baths community since 2013, and working in the fitness and wellbeing industry for over 14 years.
During that time, I’ve seen incredible progress — greater accessibility, reduced stigma around attending the gym and fitness classes, and people growing in confidence.
The fitness world used to be dominated by unrealistic images of fitness models and heavily edited photos. Thankfully, we’ve moved towards celebrating real people – but there’s still more work to do!
Recently, you may have noticed us taking photos to showcase our fantastic community of gym members. Understandably, some people were a bit hesitant to be in front of the camera, and it got me thinking…
Are we still worried about what others think of us when we work out? Do we feel self-conscious about our sweaty, red faces or the way our bodies move? Are we still comparing ourselves to the person next to us?
Why should we? We’re all here for our own reasons, doing our best and that’s something to celebrate, not hide.
So, my mini mission is to help normalise what we really look like in the gym, without embarrassment or shame. That’s why this November’s gym challenge is: “Show Us Your Best Sweaty Selfie!”
We want to see your post-workout glow, your effort, your energy — all of it! I’ve made a start – now its over to you!
Let’s lift each other up and celebrate every sweaty, smiling face that makes our Bramley Baths community so special.
To get involved chat to a member of the gym team, send your selfies to hello@bramleybaths.com or tag us on social media. Let’s do this!
