Cardigan Fields: Yorkshire’s largest public EV charging hub opens

The largest high-powered public EV charging hub in Yorkshire has launched at Cardigan Fields.

The Cardigan Fields hub features 32 bays and offers 24/7 access for the 29,000 drivers who pass the site, off Kirkstall Road, daily.

It is part of a £24.5 million investment by RAW Charging and Landsec to install EV charging bays across 25 premier retail and leisure destinations.

The Cardigan Fields installation is part of RAW Charging’s ongoing partnership with Landsec, one of the UK’s largest real estate investment trusts, which is investing £24.5 million to roll out EV charging infrastructure across premier retail and leisure destinations nationwide.

This state-of-the-art facility features 32 bays in total, comprising 14 AC fast chargers, 6 DC50 rapid chargers, and 12 DC150 ultra-rapid chargers.

A RAW Charging pokesperson said: “The UK is experiencing rapid growth in electric vehicle adoption, with one in four new cars sold in 2025 being electric or hybrid.

“As demand for accessible and efficient charging infrastructure surges, destinations like Cardigan Fields play a crucial role in supporting sustainable travel. The hub’s 24/7 availability ensures that drivers can charge their vehicles at any time, whether visiting retail outlets, restaurants, or leisure facilities.”

Neil Broadbank, Chief Commercial Officer at RAW Charging, said: “We are delighted to bring Yorkshire its largest high-powered public EV charging hub at Cardigan Fields. This installation is a significant milestone in our partnership with Landsec and our mission to connect amazing places across the UK.”

Mark Welsby, Centre Manager, Cardigan Fields, said: “We are delighted our customers can now use the new ultra-rapid charging hub at Cardigan Fields. As demand for electric vehicles in the local area continues to grow, it’s vital that our retail destinations offer the infrastructure and convenience that drivers need.”

  1. Hardly state of the art, is it? 150Kw at the most? We’ve had cars that can charge twice that speed for 5 years now, what a missed opportunity. 50Kw is a waste of time.
