The Landmark Trust, which owns the newly-re-opened Calverley Old Hall, has appealed for volunteer help to look after the newly-created community garden.
Some of the Lottery funding to help restore The Grade 1 listed building, was used to create the garden. Using ideas submitted by the local community as inspiration, the Trust worked with local garden designer Laura Sharman to create a garden space free to be enjoyed by all during the day.
The garden is designed to be easily maintainable, with just a small amount of weeding and trimming needed and all tools required provided on site. There are currently three beds filled with a mixture of herbs and ornamental flowers.
No formal experience is needed to be part of the volunteer team, however an interest in gardening would help. After introductory training, volunteers must be happy to work on their own, with minimal supervision.
The Trust wants to recruit a small number of volunteers to be on an informal rota. This team will be largely self-managed, coordinating preferred with the housekeeping staff on site at the Hall. To apply
