A former hair salon is to be turned into a cafe and hot food takeaway after plans were agreed.
Leeds City Council granted planning permission for a change of use of a vacant shop on Pudsey Road, at the bottom of Henconner Lane.
The scheme includes alterations including the installation of an extractor flue to the rear of the building, which has a flat above.
A report by LS Design and Planning said new features including signage on the converted building would be in keeping with the local area.
It said: “It respects the character of the locality and is supported by existing access arrangements, parking provision and waste management infrastructure.
“In respect to the extractor system, this is to be located as far as practicable from habitable rooms of flats and a double silencer system is to be used.”
A Leeds City Council report said the site was on a commercial parade with an existing pizza takeaway, launderette and betting shop.
A planning officer’s report said noise insulation must be fitted in the ceiling of the new takeaway.
It said: “It is considered that the site is located in a sustainable location with access to amenities and public transport links.”

A well thought out decision by Leeds Council ,a minutes walk away from McDonald’s, Greggs ,Subway,Domino’s and Pudsey Road Fisheries.
Leeds Council shouldn’t arbitrarily block businesses because they think they’re not needed. If somebody wants to use an empty commercial property to start a business, they should be allowed to start a business and compete with existing ones. If they succeed, great. If they fail, fine, somebody else can have a go.
