A Burley house will become a children’s home, despite five local objections.
Council planners have approved proposals to change the use of two semi-detached houses in multiple occupation (HMO) with five bedrooms into a small children’s residential home with three bedrooms in Stanmore Grove.
Concerns included increased access issues on Stanmore Grove, particularly on match days at nearby Headingley Stadium. A supportive comment said the new home would be a welcome addition to support vulnerable children.
A council planning officer’s report approving the proposals said: “It is noted that the current lawful use of the property is as a five-bed HMO, and that the three resident children would not be car drivers and that traffic generation would relate to staff and visitors.
“There is no basis on which to assume that the traffic from this would be greater than the potential traffic from the five-bed HMO.”
