Buffaloes Bulletin: Dominant performance by Bramley

 by  Paul Abraham

A very motivated Bramley Buffaloes side gave a highly professional first-half performance as they swept aside York Acorn to lead 22-4 at the break.

The second half was tighter with both sides scoring a converted try each, but Bramley were in cruise control after an impressive first 40 minutes. Full back Al-Rawi scored an impressive hat-trick while speed machine Chitiyo crossed for the other two tries. Gaunt (3) and Mroz (1) added the goals.

This week’s visitors

The Blue Hill Lane ground welcomes Upton for what could be an intriguing game this Saturday.

While Upton are six points behind the Buffaloes in the table, they will be buoyed by an excellent victory against New Earswick in the last outing.

The “Buffs” are oozing confidence at present and should expect to win against a club with a fine tradition and a proud community spirit.

Application to rejoin the professional ranks

As reported by West Leeds Dispatch the Bramley Buffaloes have applied to play in the Rugby League Division One in the 2025 season.

Bramley last played in the professional game in 1999 and have always strived to return to the paid ranks. Despite outstanding successes in the early years of the Bramley Buffaloes the goalposts always seemed to be moved to deny the club of its rightful promotion up into the professional game.

The club has received many messages of support since announcing their plans and a “Working Group” are already working behind the scenes to make their application as strong as possible.

Nine clubs have showed an interest in submitting an application to enter League One next season with Bedford and Goole along with Bramley Buffaloes having gone public with the intentions.
