New traffic restrictions could help alleviate problems with parking in streets surrounding Bramley Primary School.

A council report says that there has been two accidents leading to slight injuries on Fairfield Hill and another on Broad Lane following expansion work at the school. The expansion has led to extra traffic in the area.

It says there is a need for a number of measures to make the surrounding streets safer for pedestrians and relieve traffic congestion.

Improvements include:

  • Introduce parking restrictions on streets adjacent to Bramley Primary School to protect routes to school
  • Build an informal crossing facilities to assist pedestrians crossing Fairfield Hill.

The works are needed as Bramley Primary School has expanded its number of pupils from an intake of 40 pupils to 60.

The work will cost £20,000.

The report authorising the measures can be read here.
