Plans to transform the former Dogs 4 Us pet shop behind Bramley Shopping Centre into a fitness and martial arts studio have been submitted to planners.

Richard Smith wants to transform the vacant unit into a fitness and martial arts studio by the well-established family-run business, Bad Company, which has outgrown its current location off York Road.

Work includes painting the building’s exterior cladding black to enhance its appearance and better integrate it with the surrounding area. The main entrance will be moved to where an existing roller shutter is situated to enable level access for wheelchair users. Internal modifications will involve constructing stud walls to establish a reception area and changing rooms.

The development will also incorporate new EV charging points and a bike shelter.

The opening hours would be 9am-8pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to noon on Sundays. The proposals can be viewed in full here.

The proposals do not affect the pet grooming business next door.
