A £12,000 fundraiser to support a West Leeds community cafe has hit its target.
Bramley Community Café launched the appeal in October to support the sustainability of the café after its original opening date was delayed, causing ‘serious financial challenges’.
The café, which is part of a Community Interest Company related to Bramley Elderly Action (BEA), was unable to officially open until August, taking it three and a half months behind budget, as reported by WLD.

A generous anonymous donor had pledged to donate the final £6,000 if the appeal reached the halfway point of £6,000.
An email sent to backers of the appeal stated: “We’ve made it to the £6K point and received information that the match funding of £6K will be transferred in the New Year.”
On Christmas Eve, BEA received the final £324 donation to take the appeal to its target from the presenter of a Radio Leeds show on which they were talking about the community café.
Lee Ingham, the CEO of Bramley Elderly Action and Upbeat CIC, told WLD: “Thank you to the 82 Crowdfunder supporters and WLD for supporting the campaign.
“For anyone who missed the opportunity to support the community café we have added a £750 stretch to buy the second-hand round tables that we need to seat the growing number of local people who are using the community café.”
The café reached its goal just in time to host a Christmas Day meal for people who would otherwise have been on their own over the festive season.
The appeal is still open and can donations can be sent via this link.
Bramley Community Café is open from Monday to Friday, 9.30am -2.30pm and is located in Bramley Shopping Centre.
